We specialise in building seamless, modern web experiences using a combination of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JQuery. When our headquarters were in London, we had the opportunity to partner with Tiger Tiger, a popular UK entertainment venue chain, to revitalise its digital ecosystem by upgrading several microsites.
Over several months, our team worked closely with Tiger Tiger to transition their microsites from outdated technologies to a more robust, responsive, and efficient stack that would enhance user experience and streamline content management.
Requirements elicitation
Our client’s microsites promote events, enable online reservations, and keep customers updated on the latest offers. However, many of these microsites were built on legacy frameworks that limited functionality, slowed load times, and made managing content difficult for Tiger Tiger’s team. Our primary goals were to:
- Upgrade the back-end architecture to a more flexible and secure PHP framework, including using WordPress for easy access and introducing content management system capabilities.
- Redesign the front end using modern HTML5, CSS3, and JQuery to create a responsive, visually engaging user experience.
- Simplify content management for the marketing team by creating process flows, which will allow them to update offers and event details quickly without technical assistance.
Our approach
Our development began with thoroughly auditing each microsite’s structure, dependencies, and code quality. We discovered that many sites depended on outdated PHP versions, with front-end components that lacked responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility.
After mapping out the essential features and user flows, we started with the back-end upgrade, migrating the sites to a PHP framework that enhanced speed and security.
On the front end, we leveraged HTML5 and CSS3 to create a fully responsive design that adapts seamlessly to desktops, tablets, and smartphones. With the brand colour identity in mind, we used custom JQuery animations to bring each page to life, ensuring that interactive elements like event calendars, booking forms, and promotional banners were smooth and intuitive.
Implementing a user-friendly CMS
To address Tiger Tiger’s content management needs, we built a custom, PHP-based CMS that integrates directly with each microsite and implements WordPress where appropriate.
This system allows the marketing team to update event information, images, and seasonal offers without coding knowledge. With a simple drag-and-drop interface and real-time preview, their team can make instant changes, keeping content fresh and relevant to their audience.
SEO and load time optimisation
Throughout the project, we prioritised SEO best practices and page load optimisation. Each microsite was equipped with SEO-friendly URL structures, meta tags, and structured data, ensuring better visibility in search engines.
We also optimised images, minified CSS and JavaScript files, and used caching techniques to decrease page load times significantly.
Thanks to our comprehensive approach, Tiger Tiger now enjoys an upgraded suite of microsites that are faster, easier to manage, and ready to support their digital growth.
