Built with AJAX, the website required a specific approach to SEO to ensure visibility and performance, as traditional search engine optimisation methods often fall short on AJAX-based platforms. Search engine optimisation
AJAX is an excellent choice for creating responsive and dynamic e-commerce websites because it can update parts of a web page without refreshing. However, it presents unique challenges for SEO, as search engine crawlers may struggle to index content dynamically loaded with AJAX.
For Tape Computers, product pages, descriptions, and other critical content were not always indexed effectively, impacting their search rankings and discoverability.
Custom SEO framework
We designed a bespoke SEO framework tailored to Tape Computers’ AJAX-based website to address these challenges. Leveraging our expertise in front-end technologies like HTML5, CSS3, and JQuery, we created static, SEO-friendly URL structures for every product and category page.
This approach allowed search engines to index each page properly, regardless of AJAX dependencies. Additionally, we implemented server-side rendering (SSR) for specific content, ensuring that search engines could crawl and index essential information effectively.
Dynamic meta tag generation
To further enhance SEO, we developed a dynamic meta tag generation that automatically adjusts each product page’s titles, descriptions, and keywords based on its content. Using back-end integration with WordPress and Typo3, we enabled Tape Computers’ team to customise meta tags easily, optimising each product for relevant search queries.
Furthermore, we added schema markup to highlight product details, prices, availability, and ratings, allowing search engines to display rich snippets in search results and significantly improving click-through rates. We also integrated Google Webmasters and its e-commerce capabilities.
Improved user experience
Beyond search optimisation, our solution also focused on improving the user experience. With AJAX-powered filtering and sorting options, users can quickly find products, while SEO-friendly URLs ensure they land on the correct pages.
We also integrated SEO analytics tools that track keyword performance, including Piwik and Google Analytics, page rankings, and organic traffic, providing Tape Computers with the insights needed to refine their SEO strategy continuously.
